Turkmenistan and the United States discussed Wednesday regional security and related issued during a meeting between President Berdymuhammedov and Admiral William Fallon, commander of the US Central Command.
The sides discussed global security and collaboration between the military establishments of both the countries for strengthening the regional security, struggle against terrorism, drug trafficking and border protection, reports the Turkmen media.
Berdymuhammedov and Fallon agreed that in order to counter these destabilizing factors it was necessary to maintain mutually beneficial partnership aimed at resolving the social problems and providing high living standard to the people in the region.
President Berdymuhammedov emphasized that Turkmenistan would continue to follow its policy of peace and good neighbourliness on the principles of equality, mutual trust and non-interference in each other’s affairs.
Admiral Fallon praised Turkmenistan’s role in supporting peace and stability in Afghanistan, especially its uninterrupted supply of electricity and liquefied gas to the war torn country.
