Turkmenistan has printed over 130 thousand copies of illustrated textbooks on astronomy for final year pupils of secondary schools. The textbook has been prepared by the candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, Hojamuhammed Meliyaev. According to him, the textbook's language is plain, and its content is rich. The new edition includes the history of development of astronomy in Turkmenistan and information about latest world achievements in this field. In total, 88 new textbooks will be released by the start of the new school year. Many of these books have been already printed. It is worth recalling that President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov signed the decree "On improving the education system of Turkmenistan" this February. The decree extended the period of secondary school education from 9 to 10 years. The aim of this reform is to ensure that the national education certificates receive world-wide recognition and to provide the youth of Turkmenistan with opportunities to study at prestigious higher education establishments abroad.
