President Congratulated with Day of Turkmen Melon

Congratulating the Turkmen people on the national holiday in honour of the ‘king of watermelons’ celebrated on the second Sunday of August the President of Turkmenistan said: “Since ancient times Turkmenistan has been considered a motherland of the best melons in the world. At present the Fund of the Turkmen melon and gourd growing science registered over 1,600 species of melons cultivated all over the world. Almost 1,100 species are the samples of Turkmen melon. Sweet and aromatic Turkmen melons and watermelons attracting attention of well-known scientists, historians and travelers for many centuries and wining first prizes at the international exhibitions are the priceless gift, inexhaustible rich of our land.”

Speaking on the tasks set before the Turkmen melon and gourd growers the President emphasized the importance of selection and stated that the Turkmen government would provide assistance to development of the industry and application of new high technologies. 

On August 11, on the eve of the Turkmen Melon Day and 15th anniversary of the State Border Service of Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov chaired the sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The President of Turkmenistan thanked for greetings and congratulating the Turkmen people on the national holiday in honour of the ‘king of watermelons’ celebrated on the second Sunday of August the President of Turkmenistan said: “Since ancient times Turkmenistan has been considered a motherland of the best melons in the world. During the official part of the meeting Vice Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan reported on the course of works on implementation of the tasks the Turkmen leader set before the high-ranking officials at the last sitting.
